Guille Sastre

Executive Director/Founder

Founded Creciendo Unidos in 1995. Oversees the day to day life of the organization, develops and implements strategies to sustain and expand CU’s work and continues developing and improving prevention and intervention programs to support Latino families. Has a background in psychology and over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, working with families facing domestic violence, substance abuse and other needs that negatively impact the family nucleus. Her work with Hispanic families has gained national recognition as a best practice model.
My Hero is: I have many heroes, people that have transcended because of their devotion to a cause, that have fought and sacrificed their personal life so that the community as a whole could benefit for example Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez etc. Then there are people like my grandfather and my father that regardless of their needs they never stopped giving. My husband is also someone that is constantly seeking to help others and my mother is always thinking of everyone else and all those individuals that are fighting to be better.
In my free time I love to: I like to read, to be with my family, playing racquetball… but particularly l love my quiet time, doing absolutely nothing.
Why I do what I do: It’s the only way I can live my life, I love life and I love to experience it.
One unique thing about me is: I have this weird internal chip where I’m always trying to solve things.

Britney Colorado

My name is Britney Colorado. I Joined Creciendo Unidos/Growing Together in January of 2014.What I enjoy about the program is that I am able to help people grow and become leaders, while simultaneously also working on bettering myself. In my free time I enjoy painting, reading, writing and spending time with my family.

Mi nombre es Britney Colorado. Me uní a Creciendo Unidos/Growing Together en enero de 2014. Lo que disfruto del programa es que puedo ayudar a las personas a crecer y convertirse en líderes, al mismo tiempo que trabajó para mejorar. En mi tiempo libre disfruto pintar, leer, escribir y pasar tiempo con mi familia.

Wendoly Abrego

My name is Wendoly Abrego-Petett. I joined CU in January 2014. It is difficult to pick just one thing I like most about CU’s programs, the reasons I like the program include: The topics we cover help me be more aware of areas I need to work on myself, I see where my attitudes and how I manage my own emotions affect my relationship with loved ones and people near me. I also enjoy the opportunity to serve with other families and share some of the cultural dynamics that we don’t see with other groups. My other favorite thing is that I get to do something with my kids and we can bond through the many activities we do as part of the program. In my free time I enjoy DIY projects at home as well as drawing/painting with my kids!

Mi nombre es Wendoly Abrego-Petett. Me uní a CU en enero de 2014. Es difícil elegir solo una cosa que me gusta más de los programas de CU, las razones por las que me gusta el programa incluyen: Los temas que cubrimos me ayudan a ser más consciente de las áreas en las que necesito trabajar, veo donde mis actitudes y cómo manejo mis propias emociones afectan mi relación con los seres queridos y las personas cercanas a mí. También disfruto la oportunidad de servir con otras familias y compartir algunas de las dinámicas culturales que no vemos con otros grupos. Mi otra cosa favorita es que puedo hacer algo con mis hijos y podemos unirnos a través de las muchas actividades que hacemos como parte del programa. En mi tiempo libre, disfruto proyectos DIY, así como dibujar/pintar con mis hijos.

My name is Maria Choi. I joined Creciendo Unidos/Growing Together in 2005. what I like about the program is the family atmosphere and what I learn from the participants. The happiness from participating in a family program, is unique. In my free time I enjoy visiting museums and reading books.

My name is Iduvina Palafox. I joined the program in 2002. The most important lesson that Growing Together has taught me is to take responsibility for my life and live fully learning all the time. What I enjoy the most about the program is practicing all the tools that help us to have relationships of empathy, support, love and respect with myself and my whole family. Being able to be part of the program helps me to help myself to be able to support my family and community. In my free time I enjoy reading, I like to create jewelry.

Mi nombre es Iduvina Palafox. Entré al programa el el 2002. La lección más importante que me ha enseñado Creciendo Unidos es tomar responsabilidad de mi vida y vivir  plenamente aprendiendo todo el tiempo. Lo que más disfruto del programa es estar practicando todas las herramientas que nos ayudan a tener relaciones de empatía, apoyo, amor  y respeto conmigo misma y toda mi familia. El poder ser parte del programa me ayuda a ayudarme a mi para poder apoyar a mi familia y comunidad. En mi tiempo libre disfruto la lectura, me gusta crear joyería.

My name is Fabiola Casillas. I joined Creciendo Unidos/Growing Together in 2001. What I enjoy  about being in CU is watching the growth of the kids, youth, and families over the course of the program. I also enjoy the atmosphere. Everyone treats you like family. The thing I enjoy the most is spending time with my family and traveling.

Mi nombre es Fabiola Casillas. Me uní a Creciendo Unidos/Growing Together en 2001. Lo que disfruto de estar en CU es observar el crecimiento de los niños, jóvenes y familias a lo largo del programa. También disfruto del ambiente. Todo el mundo te trata como a una familia. Lo que más disfruto es pasar tiempo con mi familia y viajar.

My name is Jhoana Ureña. I joined Creciendo Unidos/ Growing Together in 2007. 
I enjoy coming to the program to spend time with the kids. Creciendo Unidos really shaped who I am today. In my time here there were a lot of people who helped me along the years and I feel like now it’s my turn to make a difference in their lives. Then, they can impact other lives and we have great leaders in our community. In my free time I like to watch movies and hangout with friends.

En mi tiempo aquí hubo mucha gente que me ayudó a lo largo de los años y siento que ahora es mi turno de hacer una diferencia en sus vidas. Entonces, pueden impactar otras vidas y tenemos grandes líderes en nuestra comunidad. En mi tiempo libre me gusta ver películas y salir con amigos.
